Swimming is an act, or a movement of the entire body especially the arms and legs through the water. It is also a kind of sport that takes place in pools or open water. It is consist of various styles and strokes like a butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and individual medley.

Swimming allows you to be able to move your whole body and withstand against the water current that serves as the total body work out. This will keep your heart rate up which is good as cardiovascular exercise. It also reduces your blood pressure while it strengthens your heart and improves endurance. By having a lot of strokes to choose from, it tones all your muscles in your body and builds strength. It also helps maintain a healthy weight, healthy heart, and lungs.

Being able to move into the water also releases some of the impact stress off of your body. Swimming is said to be an alternative work out for injured athletes, for it has the option to do light exercise in the water.  It is also best to exercise during pregnancy while experiencing back problems and pain. Being into the water is an excellent exercise to loosen up and strengthen the back. It can also be a great sport to lose weight. While doing so, losing weight still depends on your weight and height, the number of calories you need to burn, and on how much time you spent every day. Distance also matters. Let's not leave our seniors behind for swimming is an excellent work out for them as well.
