Keeping a crystal clear swimming pool water is not an easy task. Swimming pools are supposed to be ready to swim at, any time of the day. There are a lot of things to consider in maintaining and treating a swimming pool.

Algae is the most often cause of green water. Different swimming pools and different pool waters have different bacteria. It may grow over time and affect the water that will lead to discoloration.
 
What are the causes of green pool water? Here are some of the list you need to watch out.

• INCORRECT pH BALANCE. If the pH balance of the pool water is too low, the water will become acidic that may cause plastic and metal deterioration. However, if the pH balance is is too high, it will no longer effective to kill bacteria. it will allow calcium to build up as well as chlorine. pH scale between 7.2 and 7.8 is a healthy swimming pool water. • WEATHER. Algae build up are often flourish everywhere especially during the warm weather. Normal chlorine level will not be enough to fight algae build up. Check the pH level first to know if you need to shock the pool. But if it is on the right level, special algaecides are sold individually that are strong enough and designed to fight back the algae build up. This would help clear the pool water. • POOL SHOCK. Treating the pool with a huge amount of chlorine and algaecide is what we call Shock Treatment. This method is usually used as a solution if there are too many algae build up that leads to green pool water. 24 hours is the allowable time to let the chemicals work to kill off bacteria and algae in the pool water.
