Water Bugs in the Swimming Pool

Did you know that aside from the dirt, insects, and leaves that we wanted to move out from the pool, there are also what we call water bugs? They are not the usual flying bugs that we encounter. They are the bugs that simply wanted to live in the water. Before you can eliminate and clear away water bugs, you must understand and learn something about them. Just like the old saying goes like "know your enemy". For the most part, there are two kinds of water bugs. These are the backswimmers and the water boatmen. Since these two water bugs are very similarly related to one another, once you have one, you will definitely have the other too. It is in a very exceptional occasion that you will not find one or the other in any body of water they are at. There are also some other types of bugs who opted and loved to live in the water that is not technically categorized as water bugs.

Water Boatmen. This type of water bugs is lighter than the water and they are named after their shape. They have long and flat bodies like a boat. They have six legs. Two in the front and the other four longer oarlike hindlegs. They are usually seen in stagnant or slow-moving bodies of water where they can consume dirt and algae. The water boatman in most cases attaches itself at the bottom of the water to vegetate. they have the ability to breathe from a bag of air stocked in their body that is mostly under their wings. The water boatman does not directly harm people.

Backswimmers. This type of water bugs is named after their practice of swimming on their backs inside out. They are cousins with the water boatmen and are also most likely the same in appearance. However, backswimmers have longer legs than the water boatmen. They are the predators of boatmen. They provided a physically and mentally agonizing bite. They eat and kill boatmen anytime as long as they can. They always come next to their target prey. Therefore, just like any other predator, whenever you see water boatmen you notice that the backswimmers are also around the corner.
